Privacy Policy
Effective May 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how NewsHound.ai ("NewsHound," "we," "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our service.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, password hash, organization name.
- Content you submit: articles uploaded as voice corpus, source text pasted into tools, generated outputs, files uploaded for processing (temporarily stored).
- Billing information: processed by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
- Usage data: per-call token counts, generation timestamps, action types, IP address, browser user-agent.
- Cookies: a session cookie for authentication; optional analytics cookies if PostHog is enabled in your region.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: process your content, generate outputs, store your voice corpus.
- To bill you: charge subscriptions, allocate Stories, send invoices.
- To support you: respond to inquiries, send transactional email about your account.
- To improve the Service: monitor performance, debug errors, track aggregate usage patterns.
- To prevent abuse: detect anomalous usage (>5x average) and investigate.
We do not train models on your content. Your articles and generated outputs are not used to improve any AI model — yours, ours, or any third party's.
3. Third-party sub-processors
The Service uses these sub-processors. Each handles a specific category of data:
- Anthropic (LLM provider) — processes text submitted for generation. Anthropic does not train on API content.
- Voyage AI (embeddings provider) — receives chunks of your corpus for embedding.
- Stripe (payments) — handles your billing information.
- Cloudflare R2 (storage) — stores temporary file uploads (24-72h TTL).
- Resend (email) — delivers transactional email.
- Railway (hosting) — runs our servers and database.
- Trigger.dev (background jobs) — runs async tasks like embedding.
- Sentry, PostHog, Better Stack (observability, optional) — receive error reports, anonymized usage events, application logs.
4. Data retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion.
- Voice corpus articles: retained until you delete them or your account.
- Generated outputs: retained until you delete them or your account.
- Uploaded files (images, PDFs): auto-deleted from R2 after 24-72 hours.
- Audit logs (per-article generation history): retained for 12 months for billing dispute resolution.
- Anonymous extraction outputs: retained for 24 hours then auto-deleted.
5. Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your data at any time from the in-app settings. Account deletion removes all associated voice corpus, articles, and generations within 30 days. To exercise additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, contact mathew@newshound.ai.
6. Security
We use TLS for data in transit, encrypted Postgres at rest (Railway managed), bcrypt for password hashes, and HMAC-signed cookies for sessions. No system is perfectly secure — if we detect a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours in compliance with applicable regulations.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be announced via email at least 14 days before they take effect.
